What Is Ethernet, Really?

Ethernet is a communication standard - the way computers and servers “talk” to each other. Just as a road dictates the traffic rules between cities, Ethernet defines:

  • How data is packaged (Packets)
  • How it’s sent
  • And how collisions (i.e., data collisions) are avoided.

How Does It Work in Practice?
